Central Mountain sees plenty of top finishes at Lock Haven Bald Eagle Invitational

LOCK HAVEN — Central Mountain senior Sam Wible ran a time of 50.96 to win the 400 at the Lock Haven Bald Eagle Invitational on Friday evening as the Wildcats had numerous top finishers in both boys and girls competition.

Central Mountain’s boys team finished tied for seventh with Clearfield with 47 points while the Wildcats’ girls team took ninth.

The Wildcats had a total of four first-place finishers between boys and girls competition.

In addition to wible, Central Mountain’s Cooper Bottorf won the discus with a throw of 144 feet, setting a PR, as he beat Noah Crawford of DuBois by just five inches. The Wildcats also saw senior Jonathan Hughes win the javelin with a throw of 168-1, winning by eight feet over Chace Aikey of Mifflinburg.

On the girls side, Central Mountain freshman Macia Owens won the 100 hurdles race in 16.56, beating Rose Shikanga of Sayre by roughly 0.20 seconds and set a PR in the process.

Damien Winner took home two top-six finishes. In the 2,000 steeplechase, Winner, a junior, was a second-place finisher in 7:00.70 and he also took sixth in the 3,200 in 10:45.13. The 3,200 time was a season-best mark for the Wildcat.

Central Mountain senior Jaslyn Anderson was a second-place finisher in the discus with a throw of 93 feet, 2 inches, behind only DuBois senior Ariel Carney (104-2). Anderson also took eighth in the shot put with a throw of 28-6 1/4, setting a season best with the distance too.

Central Mountain senior Bryce Warren claimed a fifth-place finish in the boys triple jump with a distance of 40-4.

Ellen Banfill, a senior, was a seventh-place finisher in the javelin with a throw of 85-1. Central Mountain also had two top-10 finishers in the boys shot put. Dylan Crawford took seventh (40-3 1/2) and Bottorf was ninth (39-1).

Central Mountain’s Macy Plowman set a season-best time of 27.43 for an eighth-place finish in the 200. In the 800, Central Mountain’s Grace Keohane took fourth in 2:29.78.

In the girls 400, the Wildcats’ Camryn Bair, a senior, took home a sixth-place finish in the event with a time of 1:05.31, setting a PR. Bair also took 10th in the 200 with a PR time of 28.38.
