Local roundup: LHU baseball falls in doubleheader against Millersville

Lock Haven capped a three-game series with Millersville in a doubleheader with two losses in college baseball action: 9-2 and 10-4. The sweep drops the Bald Eagles to 10-9. In the first game, Millersville was able to scratch seven runs across the first two innings against the Bald Eagles.

Leading the offense for The Haven was Zachary McEllroy (2 for 3, triple) and Ethan Nagy (1 for 2, double, RBI, BB). Jaxson Pupo, Nathan Wise and Morgen Billotte also collected hits along the way.

The right-hander Matt Lingenfelter started on the mound for the Bald Eagles, tossing four innings, allowing eight runs on nine hits, while striking out two. The loss brings his record to 2-1 on the young season.

Aiden Starn made his second appearance of the season, pitching two innings and allowing one earned run.

• The Lock Haven lacrosse scored three times and didn’t allow a goal in the third quarter to take down Frostburg State 9-7 in an exciting non-conference game on Saturday afternoon at Charlotte Smith Field.

With the victory, Lock Haven improves to 3-3 on the season and Frostburg State falls to 3-5. Two of Lock Haven’s three losses this season have came at the hands of nationally-ranked opponents. The two schools were deadlocked across the board in the first half and went into the break tied 4-4.

However, Lock Haven took full control in the third period behind a shutout and three goal to build a 7-4 advantage.

Frostburg State outscored The Haven, 3-2, in the fourth quarter, but time was no longer on the Bobcats side and the Bald Eagles clinched the victory.
