Central Mountain senior Dalton Perry’s final run on a wrestling mat isn’t over yet as the Penn State commit’s quest for another state medal continues this season.

Perry was Central Mountain’s lone wrestler to reach the championship semifinals and won a West Class AAA Regional gold medal at 145 pounds to secure a berth to the state tournament.

He’s the Wildcats’ only state qualifier this year. Perry edged out Baldwin’s Ramil Islamov in a tight contest by decision, 7-6. Perry earned a 7-0 decision against Butler’s Kase Chopp in the semifinals to wrestle for the title.

Bellefonte had one wrestler reach states in Ezra Swisher. The Raiders’ 152 pounder secured a 7-0 decision at 152 pounds to finish fifth and qualify for the state tournament. In Class AAA, the top five wrestlers from each regional head to Hershey whereas only the top four in Class AA regionals advance.

In the fourth-round consolations, Swisher fell to Peters Township’s Darius McMillon by decision in a close contest, 8-7.

Bellefonte’s Wyatt Long fell in the championship semifinals by tech fall, 18-2, 4:38 at 127 to Butler’s Santino Slobada to drop into the consolation bracket. Bellefonte’s Ezra Swisher was pinned at 152 in the semifinals against Thomas Jefferson’s Maddox Shaw.

At 160, Bellefonte’s Noah Weaver lost by major decision to Connellsville’s Lonzy Vielma, 15-2.

Aiden Kunes placed fifth for Central Mountain after posting a 5-0 decision win against Wyatt Long of Bellefonte at 127. Bellefonte’s Ezra Swisher also finished fifth after he defeated Luke Dunlap of South Fayette by decision, 7-0, at 152.

At 145, Bellefonte’s Andrew Gall fell to Butler’s Kase Chopp via tech fall, 22-3, 3:18.

Central Mountain’s Bryce Brungard took sixth after he lost in a close contest to Waynesburg’s Jacob Stephenson by decision, 4-1, at 189 and came just shy of reaching states. In the fourth round of consolations, Brungard suffered a 19-4, 4:10 tech fall to Greater Latrobe’s Hunter Snyder.

The Raiders had a handful fall in the fourth-round of consolations as well.

Bellefonte’s Long lost in an extremely close match by decision to Altoona’s Deklan Barr, 2-1, at 127. At 145, Bellefonte’s Gall lost 7-2 against Franklin Regional’s Max Firestine.

Bellefonte’s Noah Weaver lost by major decision at 160 to Montours’s Rook Smith, 10-2. A bout later at 172, Bellefonte’s Jackson Long lost to Kiski’s Mario Hutcherson by tech fall, 19-4, 1:27.
