LHU football closes regular season by defeating Gannon
ERIE – The Lock Haven football team closed the 2024 season on the road at Gannon (3-7), and the Bald Eagles picked up a hard-fought 21-13 victory over the hosts in Week-11 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East-West crossover action.
The win marked the fifth of the season for the Bald Eagles who locked up back-to-back five-win seasons.
Leading the way on offense was quarterback Jackson Ostrowsky who ended his record-breaking season in style. Ostrowsky threw for 278 yards and two touchdowns. Damir Green carried the ball 15 times for 101 yards and one TD.
Record-breaking wide receiver T’iar Young hauled in nine catches for 112 yards and the effort was headlined by a touchdown catch late in the first half that put Lock Haven up 14-10 at halftime.
Senior Ouon Williams also had a TD grab.
The Lock Haven defense helped carry the team to victory today thanks to four total interceptions. Senior-standout Darryl Pollard finished with two, while Davien Vernon and Jaeion Perry both had one
The Bald Eagles finished the regular season with 13 interceptions, the third-most in the PSAC.
Oscar Uduma finished today’s game with nine tackles, including two sacks, and Markel Morgan, Izzy Ramos and Rocco Daugherty each had a seven-tackle outing to help lead the way on defense.
Senior Justin Anderson recorded 1.5 tackles-for-loss which pushed his career total to 34.5, which is a new all-time career record at Lock Haven. Anderson was credited with a sack today and tied the all-time career record in that category as well with 18.5 as today’s effort rounded out a brilliant career in crimson and white.
Ostrowsky finished the 2024 season with 3,203 passing yards, 291.18 passing yards-per-game and 27 passing TDs, all of which led the PSAC. All of those marks also stand as Lock Haven single-season passing records.
Young finished the season with the PSAC No. 1 marks in receiving yards (1,146), receiving yards-per-game (104.2) and receiving touchdowns (11). The 11 TDs tied the all-time single season record for receiving touchdowns and the 1,146 yards are the second-most in school history for a single season.
The Bald Eagles closed the season on a two-game win streak.
With today’s win, Lock Haven finished the season at 5-6 overall after going 3-4 in PSAC East action.
Last season (2023), when Lock Haven won five games, it stood as the Bald Eagles first five-win season in 42 years (1982). Now, The Haven has posted 10 wins in two seasons, the most victories in a two-year stretch since Lock Haven won 11 in 1981 (6) and 1982 (5).
