Put the Nativity in Triangle Park

Carol Eberhard

Lock Haven

I want to state I am in favor of our local Christians displaying that they have blown $10,000 to show that they celebrate the Birth of Jesus. The same Jesus who taught us to tend to the poor and the sick.

It will make me think of how much food for the food banks, and how much heating fuel, and how much good that money could have done. Every time I get approached asking for money to help people, I can rest assured that those Christians must be sending in enough to cover things, because they obviously have an over-abundance.

Look at all the beautiful decorations on the homes and lawns, and notice how few nativity sets you see at homes. Surely, if they spend $10,000 for a park display, those Christians would have proudly put nativity sets in their own holiday displays to remind us why we celebrate the season. Obviously, it is a priority of their faith.

In this season, which is celebrated by many different faiths and cultures that we should quietly share our good fortunes and blessings with our fellow citizens, and be humbled and thankful that we have enough to share.

I don’t think the display is going to remind people to follow Jesus or open anyone’s hearts, but rather to remind us how expensive a folly this is. Perhaps, rather this display is a lesson of the season, and why I agree it should be displayed.

Starting at $3.69/week.
