Sunday fire in Flemington claims one life

ASHTON PETERS/FOR THE EXPRESS Damaged buildings are seen still smoking in the aftermath of Sunday morning’s 3rd alarm fire in Flemington.

On February 9, 2025 at approximately 4:28 a.m., numerous fire departments in Clinton County responded to a third alarm structure fire located at 209 High Street in Flemington Borough.

Three occupants of the house — 57-year-old Teresa Meadows, 21-year-old Nathan Meadows and 19-year-old Jaime Meadows — survived the fire. However one occupant, identified as 18-year-old Alissa Shayla DeManno, perished in the fire.

On scene, occupants of the house advised first responders that there was still an occupant entrapped inside. According to State Police at Montoursville, efforts were made by two of the occupants prior to the fire personnel arriving on scene to save the victim but were unsuccessful.

Police said due to the rapid growth of the fire and partial collapse of the structure, search and rescue attempts were not possible.

DeManno was discovered near the end of the suppression efforts when the structure could safely be entered, police said.

Pictures from the scene show significant damage occurring to neighboring houses as well.

While units fought the blaze, PennDOT was notified leading to High Street being shut down for an extended period.

Responding units included Howard Fire Company, Castanea Fire Company, Mill Hall Fire Company, Dunnstown Fire Company, Citizens Hose-Lock Haven, Goodwill Hose Company, Avis Fire Company, Beech Creek/Blanchard Fire Company, Wayne Township Fire Company, Lamar Township Fire Company, Nittany Valley Fire Company, Goodwill Hose Ambulance Association, Station 22, Ambulance 9, Eastside Fire and Rescue, Independent Hose Company, Old Lycoming Township Fire Company, Lycoming County Citizens Hose, Clinton County EMA, PPL, PennDot and The Red Cross.

Units were cleared from the scene at approximately 10:32 a.m.

Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshals were requested to the scene for an origin and cause of investigation.

According to police, the origin and cause of the fire could not be immediately determined on scene due to the extensive damage done to the structure.

The subsequent death investigation is still on-going.
