Boil water advisory in Jersey Shore ends

The Jersey Shore Area Joint Water Authority has posted a release on their website and Facebook page stating that the “drinking water problem” had been “corrected,” and it was no longer necessary for residents to boil water.

The boil water advisory, which had been in place since the remnants of Hurricane Debby brought heavy rains to the area on Friday, Aug. 9, was due to flooding damage at the Larry’s Creek water treatment plant. That damage took “significant time and resource” to repair, according to a previous release by the water authority.

“DEP regulation requires two consecutive days of bacteria testing from the restart of water production before the boil water notice can be lifted,” the release stated.

Starting at $3.69/week.
