Traffic stop

LOCK HAVEN — Lycoming regional police conducted a routine traffic stop on Jason Robert Yahn, 41, of Lock Haven, at 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 25 when the man failed to yield to the stop.

According to court documents, Yahn was traveling along the 9600 block of Route 22 South in Piatt Township on his 2001 Unicar Sundiro without eye protection or a helmet.

Police said they observed Yahn swerving out of his lane and failing to use turn signals or stop at a posted stop sign.

Police attempted a stop as Yahn turned into Susquehanna Campground, but he failed to stop, leaving the roadway to ride along a set of railroad tracks before crashing his scooter, fleeing on foot and attempting to hide under a camper, according to an affidavit.

Once taken into custody, Yahn admitted to having methamphetamine and a pipe in his possession, also relating that he had just smoked the drug, police said.

Through an investigation it was discovered Yahn was wearing an ankle monitor as a condition of supervised bail and his license was currently under suspension for DUI, court documents said.

The scooter operated by Yahn was found to not be authorized for highway usage and lacked proper registration, insurance or inspection, police said.

According to police, lab results were positive for methamphetamine in Yahn’s bloodstream.

Yahn was arraigned on charges of fleeing police, evading arrest, DUI, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and nine summary offenses by District Judge Denise Dieter, police said.

MILL HALL — No injuries were reported in a three vehicle crash involving a school bus along North Water Street at its intersection with West Peale Avenue in Mill Hall Borough on Oct. 21, state police at Lamar said.

A 2023 Honda CRV, driven by Cassandra A. Robertson, 21, of Chantilly, Va., was traveling north on Water Street and attempted to turn left onto West Peale Avenue when a 2022 Nissan Murano, driven by Courtney J. Burkey, 42, of Mill Hall, was traveling south and entered its lane, police said.

Burkey was unable to avoid the collision and struck Robertson’s vehicle, police said.

Robertson’s vehicle rotated clockwise, causing the vehicle to strike a 2016 Thomas Built Bus, driven by Robert A. Harer, 62, of Jersey Shore, which was stopped at a stop sign, police said.

None of the drivers or the occupants of Burkey’s vehicle — a 6-year-old Mill Hall girl — or Harer’s bus — Ronald S. Smeltzer, 85, of Lock Haven — was injured as a result of the crash, police said.

Robertson was cited in relation to a vehicle turning left, police said.
