LOCK HAVEN — Lock Haven Catholic School, a cherished educational institution in our community for decades, continues to provide a nurturing and faith-based environment for students from kindergarten through eighth grade. With a strong emphasis on academic excellence, spiritual development and community engagement, the school remains a vital part of Lock Haven’s educational landscape. This year has been filled with joyful celebrations, impressive achievements and meaningful initiatives that highlight the spirit and dedication of our students, staff and families.
Catholic Schools Week
Celebration
At the end of January, Lock Haven Catholic School joined schools nationwide to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. The festivities included themed spirit days that brought excitement and camaraderie to the school community. Students enjoyed dressing up as twins, imitating their favorite teachers and participating in other fun themes. One of the highlights was the friendly competition to raise money for a local family in need. The first-grade class emerged victorious and earned the hilarious and memorable reward of pieing the principal. Other events included Bingo and a movie, which added to the week’s joyful atmosphere.
The Return of the Christmas Program
After a hiatus, the much-anticipated Christmas program returned this past December at Holy Spirit Parish — St. Agnes Church. Students showcased their talents through beautiful performances that celebrated the true meaning of Christmas. The event brought together families, friends and community members for a heartwarming evening filled with music, joy and holiday spirit.
Middle School Success
at TSA Competition
Our middle school students demonstrated their ingenuity and skills by participating in the Technology Student Association (TSA) competition in Muncy. We are proud to announce that two of our students qualified for the state competition, a testament to their hard work and dedication. This achievement highlights the school’s commitment to fostering innovation and critical thinking among its students.
Upcoming Events: Race for Education
and Field Day
Looking ahead, the school community is eagerly preparing for the annual Race for Education on April 25. This event allows students to raise funds by seeking sponsorships and running laps around the school grounds. The proceeds support various school activities and initiatives.
In May, students will participate in the highly anticipated Field Day. Organized by generous parents and volunteers, this event features a variety of games and activities where students are split into teams and compete in a friendly, spirited atmosphere. Field Day is always a school favorite and a wonderful way to celebrate the end of the academic year.
Commitment to Community Service
Community service is a cornerstone of the values taught at Lock Haven Catholic School. Each month, students raise money to support a different cause or family in need within the community. In return, they enjoy a dress-down day as a reward for their generosity. Additionally, the school donated food to the Haven Cupboard, a local food pantry that supports students at Commonwealth University-Lock Haven. These initiatives instill a strong sense of compassion and civic responsibility in our students.
Launch of the Guardian Angel Program
This year, the school launched the Guardian Angel Program, inviting community members and friends to contribute to the school’s mission. Donations to this program help keep tuition costs manageable for our student’s families. The Guardian Angel Program is a vital part of ensuring that Lock Haven Catholic School continues to thrive and provide exceptional education for generations to come.
As Lock Haven Catholic School continues to grow and flourish, we remain grateful for the unwavering support of our community. With faith, dedication and a commitment to excellence, we look forward to many more years of success and service.
