HOODIE

HOO DAY

Each year the Pathway to Christ Church in McElhattan has a Hoodie Hoo Day to scare away winter. You’re invited to join the church pastor and congregation members to this year’s Hoodie Hoo Day on Thursday, Feb. 20, at noon. Meet at the red light in McElhattan and wear your scariest attire to scare away winter. Afterwards there’s a luncheon for all those who gathered.

And, if you’re reading this and you can’t join in the fun but are driving by, honk your horn and wave!

The church has just participated in a pill bottle collection for the Matthew 25 Ministry. More than 500 pill bottles were collected and shipped to the M25M in Blue Ash, Ohio. Many of the church congregation members helped to remove the labels (WD40 works wonders!), thoroughly wash and dry the bottles and caps and then bagged them all up to ship out.

Pathway to Christ Church invites you to come to their Sunday morning service at 10 a.m. You’ll be welcomed by friendly, outgoing church members who are truly happy to have you there to worship with them and to hear the awesome message that Pastor Laura Gilbert brings each Sunday morning.

CHICKEN & WAFFLES

The Orviston Community Club will be having their annual chicken and waffles supper on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Beech Creek Fire Company social hall. The meal will be served from 3:30-6 p.m. The cost for the meal for those ages nine and older is $12, while those eight and under can eat for a donation of your choice.

The meal is held to raise funds to pay for the fireworks finale at the Orviston Celebration that will be held on July 12 this year.

Sit down meals or take-outs are both available. For more info on the meal and to reserve your tickets call Brenda at 570-660-5283.

POOL BENEFIT

A pool tournament benefit has been organized to help the Hauser’s who lost everything in a fire last month at their Marsh Creek home. Darren and his son, Quintavius, are staying with his daughter, Ivy, for now, until they can find an apartment or make other living arrangements. Darren’s girlfriend, Stasy, also lost things in the fire as well.

The pool benefit will be held at the Linger Inn in Beech Creek on Saturday, March 22. The entry fee is $20 per team with a 50 percent payout. The benefit will include a 50/50 and basket raffle. The doors open at 10 a.m. for registration and pool shooting starts at 11 a.m.

The family needs several items to help them out while they are staying with Ivy. Giftcard or monetary donations would certainly be appreciated so they can buy what is needed. Canned food items, kitchen supplies (towels, eating utensils, pots and pans), cleaning supplies, bath towels and washcloths, personal hygiene items, a laundry basket and detergent, bottled water and small household appliances are some of the things that the family needs to function on a daily basis until they can get back on their feet and into a new place.

If you are willing to help with any donations please reach out to Ivy using her cell phone, 814-482-1588. Please leave your name and a brief message and she’ll return your call when she’s able to.
