Alzheimer’s support group to meet Oct. 8

LOCK HAVEN — The Alzheimer’s and Caregivers’ Support Group will meet Tuesday, Oct. 8, from 7 to 8 p.m., at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven. The meeting place has convenient parking next to the church and a handicapped accessible entrance.

Nataysha Boyd, Branch Manager with Help at Home, will be the guest speaker. Help at Home is a non-medical home care agency located in Williamsport and serving Clinton County and surrounding areas. Nataysha will talk about the services the agency can provide and available payer sources.

Caregivers, especially those who are caring for dementia patients at home, are often overwhelmed with multiple caregiving tasks. Additional care for the patient and respite for the caregiver has been proven to be beneficial to both the patient and the caregiver.

Representatives from the Support Group participated in the Alzheimer’s Association’s Lycoming/Clinton Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, Sept. 28, in Montoursville. The group is still accepting donations for the walk. Information on making a donation can be provided by calling Fran Decker, support group facilitator, at 570-748-4302 or 570-263-2084.

The Alzheimer’s Support Group is free and allows families time to share common issues and concerns. Sitter service can be provided to the person with dementia at the church while caregivers are attending the meeting. Prior arrangements must be made for this service.

For more information about the local support group or for sitter service for the October meeting, call Fran Decker at 570-748-4302 or 570-263-2084.

Starting at $3.69/week.
