During the event, former field hockey coach Pat Rudy, who retired last academic year, was honored for her various accomplishments. Among them, Rudy won 634 games during her 45-year career, the sixth most in the history of collegiate field hockey. Her record during her 27-year career at Lock Haven was 388-155 (a .715 winning percentage). She won 24 conference titles and three national championships, including the 2000 Division II national championship at Lock Haven. Rudy will be inducted into the Lock Haven Athletics Hall of Fame, along with four others, in October.

The Spotlight Award is presented to the program or faculty-led group or endeavor that has been doing great work with limited resources. This year, the department of media and journalism was recognized for its efforts. Dr. Matthew McKeague, associate professor of journalism and the only Lock Haven faculty member in the department, accepted the department’s award from Dr. Erin Kennedy, a member of the Spotlight Award Committee.

Previously supported by the Lock Haven administration and carried on by APSCUF, the Outstanding Service and Scholarship Awards recognize faculty accomplishments over the past academic year.

The Outstanding Service Award focuses on four areas of service: departmental service, APSCUF service, university service and community service. This year’s winner is Dr. Jennifer Bell, associate professor and chair of the Department of Physician Associate Studies.

The Outstanding Scholarship Award is presented to a faculty member for their scholarship and how they impact their field of study. Among the factors taken into consideration are a faculty member’s publications, presentations and performances, new course, new program and curricular development projects, professional growth and development and current research projects. This year’s winner of the Outstanding Scholarship award is Dr. Matthew McKeague.
