Sent to prison
LOCK HAVEN - A Langhorne man was arrested and sent to the Clinton County Correctional Facility after he was allegedly found attempting to enter a vehicle early Sunday morning, city police said.
Ronald Dipinto III, 21, was arrested for theft from a motor vehicle and public drunkenness after being found in the 300 block of East Park Street allegedly attempting to enter a black Ford Explorer at 12:17 a.m., police said.
Dipinto was taken into custody and transported to the prison for arraignment, police said.
Crash in Woodward
DUNNSTOWN - A crash occurred late Tuesday morning on the Coudersport Pike Road near Hillside Drive in Woodward Township, township police said.
Police said James Vesey, 35, of 409 S. Jones St., lost control of his 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera on a curve while driving south.
The auto skidded off the road and traveled about 75 feet along the berm before traveling down an embankment and crashing into a tree, police said.
Vesey was treated at Lock Haven Hospital for minor injuries.
The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene, police said.
BELLEFONTE - An SCCY 9mm pistol and $40 in cash were stolen late Monday or early Tuesday, state police at Rockview said.
Police said the cash and gun were stolen from a parked 2006 Dodge Ram pickup at 125 Davidson Road, Boggs Township.
Arson at prison
ROCKVIEW-A 33-year-old male inmate at the State Correctional Institute set some articles of clothing on fire inside his cell on Tuesday at 3:05 p.m., state police at Rockview said.
When the smoke was observed on the block, inmates were evacuated outside the building, and the small fire was put out without incident, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
Car hits house
MILESBURG-Brian R. Haupt, 28, of Bellefonte, crashed his vehicle into a front porch of a house on Feb. 4 at 12:01 a.m., state police at Rockview said.
Haupt was driving north on Route 150 when he made an abrupt swerve to the right and lost control of his 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, police said. The Pontiac rotated as it traveled off the road and slid onto a sidewalk where it struck a tree with its left front, then struck the front porch of a residence with the rear of the vehicle, police said.
The Pontiac stopped perpendicular to the road with its back half on the sidewalk and the right rear door against a fire hydrant, police said.
Haupt was not injured; he had worn a seatbelt, police said. He was charged.
UNIVERSITY PARK-A 1998 Volkswagen Passat struck a raccoon while traveling south on Route 99, causing minor damage to the vehicle Feb. 17 at 11:10 p.m., state police at Rockview said.
Police did not report on the state of the raccoon.
