LOCK HAVEN - Andrew J. Greishaw, 20, of 503 Leavy Ave., Clearfield, charged with over 100 criminal counts in connection with an alleged armed robbery last April in Lock Haven, was sentenced Monday to five to 12 years in a state correctional facility.

The sentence was handed down in Clinton County Court by President Judge J. Michael Williamson after Greishaw previously pleaded guilty.

District Attorney Michael Salisbury represented the Commonwealth.

State College area attorney Joseph Amendola represented the defendant.

His co-defendant, William J. Zimmerman, 23, of 4765 Shiloh Road, Woodland, was sentenced last November to five to 15 years in state prison.

Judge Williamson offered a slight reduction in Greishaw's maximum sentence after Amendola argued that his relative youth, chances for rehabilitation, acknowledgement of his drug problems and relatively violation free behavior since being jailed suggested "every reason to hope he will go on to live a good productive life ... worthy of a second chance."

According to Salisbury, police came "within a millisecond of killing Greishaw" as Greishaw and Zimmerman fled the house after the robbery.

Greishaw and Zimmerman were taken into custody at gunpoint as they fled a West Main Street apartment house.

Police were alerted to the situation by a 1:12 a.m. telephone call to the Clinton County Department of Emergency Services, and responded with officers from Lock Haven University, the city department and state police at Lamar.

Two victims were treated for minor injuries at the scene and a loaded weapon, knife and set of brass knuckles were recovered.

Police said the two men, wearing bandanas and hoods, forced their way into the apartment. One of the occupants was able to make a 9-1-1 call as the robbery was underway, police said.
