LOCKPORT - Fireworks will light up the sky in Lock Haven tonight.
The 16th annual Riverfest at the Lockport Boat Launch Park along the West Branch of the Susquehanna River in Woodward Township will culminate with a community-funded fireworks display at 10 tonight, shot from the city-side of the Grant Street dam.
Marie Selfe, Riverfest co-chair, said the Woodward Township Recreation Committee is still in need of funds to pay for the fireworks.
Meanwhile, the third annual Cardboard Boat Race will kick off at noon today next to the Jay Street Bridge, with competitors paddling to the launch.
The Riverfest Duck Derby will begin at 5 p.m. with a grand prize of $1,000.
Tickets, sold for $5 each, can be purchased at the committee's booth at the boat launch.
At 6:30 p.m., local band Teacherz Pet, featuring Rich Schlesinger, Gigi Kaluzny, Steve Hauser and Mitch Cohen, will take to the stage, playing up to the fireworks.
Dunnstown Fire Co. has a food tent at the Riverfest and there are more than 15 other vendors on the grounds.
Riverfest raises funds for upkeep and development of the boat launch and Riverview Park above the Jay Street Bridge.
