Parades, trick-or-treat times, more scheduled this weekend

LOCK HAVEN - Trick-or-treat time is fast approaching, with Halloween only two days away.

If your household welcomes visits by ghosty ghoulies, be sure to turn your porch lights on. If you don't, keep the lights off, and wise little goblins will seek their treats elsewhere.

Communities with official trick-or-treat hours Saturday include:

n 5-7 p.m. - Howard

n 6-8 p.m.: Beech Creek, Bellefonte, Flemington, Mill Hall, Renovo and South Renovo as well as Chapman, Lamar, Pine Creek, Porter, Wayne and Woodward townships

n 6-8:30 p.m.: Loganton

n 6-9 p.m.: Lock Haven and Castanea.

CITY PARADE

Anyone and everyone in appropriate costumes are invited to join in the annual Lock Haven Halloween Parade, sponsored by the fire department, Saturday evening.

The march will start at 7 p.m., with the line-up forming an hour earlier at Henderson and East Main streets. The parade will move up Main Street, then down Church Street to Hope Hose House for refreshments and prizes.

The top float will receive a $100 prize and the second-place float $50.

The best-appearing group will receive a $25 prize, and the best-appearing antique auto a $10 prize.

Also, prizes of $10 for first place and $5 for second place will be awarded for: Ugliest, Most Original, Funniest and Judges' Choice.

No political entries are permitted.

HOWARD PARADE

Howard also will host a Halloween parade Saturday, with the line of march forming at the elementary school and stepping off at 3:30 p.m. After winding through the community. the parade will conclude back at the school.

WEIRD, WILD

Penn's Cave offers 40-minute Glow Tours of the cavern tomorrow and Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m.

The tour is given by glow sticks and spotlight only and costs $1 for teens and adults, $6 for children ages 2 to 12. Reservations are required as space is limited. A free orange glow stick and free apple cider are included. Costumes are optional.
