Thank a teacher
It happens every August. One minute you’re buying hot dogs for the grill, preparing for a neighborhood cookout, and the next thing you know you’re shopping for the back-to-school specials on notebooks, pens, pencils, paper, markers and crayons. School will be starting soon. Where did the summer go? If you are a teacher, I know where your summer went. You were likely taking courses or workshops, re-tooling your lectures or lesson plans, collecting specimens or visual aids for your classroom, or catching up on your reading. Even when you weren’t consciously working on your lessons, part of your brain was re-assessing your strategies, devising new approaches and thinking of new ways to connect with every student. It doesn’t matter whether you teach kindergarten, high school or college students. If you’re a teacher, you don’t stop with the last day of class. You continue to work at your craft all year.
